How To Lose Fat And Gain Muscle

Weight Lifting Programs

Now, a lot of people think that cardio is the best exercise for burning fat, but is it the best way to build muscle mass? Weight lifting programs are certainly going to help you gain muscle but without getting your heart rate up, most people fail to burn fat effectively and gain muscle definition. What’s the point having a six-pack under a flabby belly right? The answer lies in doing a bit of both.

Don’t spend hours on the treadmill without breaking a sweat. If you want to burn fat on the treadmill, you need to push yourself; stick it on an incline and up the tempo. A light jog for an hour isn’t going to be as effective as an uphill run for 20 minutes. Getting your heart rate up is essential for burning fat, but if you want to build pure defined muscles, cardio will only take you the first step of the way.

Did you ever watch ‘300′ the movie? It’s based loosely on a true story about 300 Spartan soldiers who stood against a Persian army of millions. You probably noticed that every actor who played a Spartan soldier in the movie had an incredibly muscular body. In fact they had ridiculously ripped bodies.

So what was their secret? What was the ‘300′ workout the actors had to go through to get those incredible bodies? Their training consisted of full body movements which included various exercises such as sprints, push-ups, tire flipping, runs with kettlebells, kipping pull-ups, bear crawls and medicine ball throwing to name a few.

In fact each workout was different from the previous and not one included a treadmill or any kind of machine for that matter. That’s because a treadmill isn’t the fastest way to gain muscle mass, in fact it’s pretty useless if you want to build pure muscles. A treadmill doesn’t give you a full body workout.

These actors weren’t training solid everyday either. Rather workouts were short but highly intensive and full bodied. The result; power, speed and endurance and a rock solid body a real Spartan would be proud to display.

This is good news, why? Because it means you can get results a lot faster than you think. You can follow the principal of this workout to achieve results. It means that you don’t need to spend hours in the gym doing boring tedious reps seeing little results.

If your goal is to burn fat and build strong muscles you need to focus on combining exercises and not just cardio alone. By using a combination of cardio and weights, you’re gaining the benefits of getting your heart rate and metabolism up which will help you burn fat quickly.

What’s important to your success is the intensity of your training and how you perform exercises. Successful weight lifting programs incorporate various routines to make your training dynamic and put your whole body to work rather than focusing on just one area.
